What to know before you bring your child in.
As of 1 February 2026, to improve our service to patients, we handle all requests exclusively through the secure Medevio platform. It is available as both a web and a mobile application — please install it on your phone (Android on Google Play, iOS on the App Store). We process requests through Medevio continuously during office hours.
Five paediatric cardiologists take turns at the practice, so we do not have a fixed weekly schedule. You will find the current schedule for this month in the Office hours section.
We opened the practice in January 2011 after years of work at the Children's Heart Centre, Motol University Hospital. All of our doctors continue to practise at the Centre — so you have the experience of the largest Czech centre for congenital heart defects available in the calm of a small practice.
We provide planned specialist cardiology care. For sudden problems, contact the paediatric emergency service or your child's GP; if life is in immediate danger, call 155.
What we specialise in and which examinations your child can expect. Most of them are painless and take only a few minutes.
Diagnosis and treatment of congenital heart defects in children of all ages — from newborns to adolescents.
Care for heart conditions that developed later in life — for example after an inflammation or infection.
Examination and treatment of heart rhythm disorders — palpitations, skipped beats and irregular pulse.
Diagnosis and monitoring of high blood pressure in childhood, including ambulatory blood pressure monitoring.
Establishing the cause of fainting and sudden loss of consciousness — a cardiology examination is one of the first steps.
Ultrasound examination of the heart. It does not hurt, does not take long and the child simply lies still — the most important examination in paediatric cardiology.
A recording of the electrical activity of the heart using attached electrodes. Quick and completely painless.
A small device the child wears for a whole day and night, recording the heart rhythm. It captures problems that do not show up during the appointment.
Blood pressure measured over 24 hours during an ordinary day. It shows the pressure as it behaves at home and at school, not just in the surgery.
Painless measurement of blood oxygen levels with a sensor on the finger — an initial check when a heart defect is suspected.

Office hours schedule for this month (PDF)MUDr. Tibor Klein opened the practice in January 2011 after years of work at the Children's Heart Centre, Motol University Hospital. All of our doctors continue to practise at the Centre — experience from the largest Czech centre for congenital heart defects, in the calm of a small practice.
He graduated from Komensky University in Bratislava (1983) and is board certified in paediatrics, neonatology and paediatric cardiology. He has worked at the Children's Heart Centre, Motol University Hospital since 1993 as an outpatient doctor, deputy head of the cardiology department and head of the CICU; since 2015 he has been a paediatric cardiology consultant for the Institute for the Care of Mother and Child.
He is a member of the Czech Cardiology Society and works for the MEDEVAC government humanitarian programme — as a cardiologist on the Czech cardiac surgery team he has worked in Kosovo, Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, Jordan (Syrian patients), Myanmar and Cambodia.
Your child is cared for by five paediatric cardiologists from the Children's Heart Centre at Motol University Hospital, together with three paediatric nurses.

The most common examinations — echocardiography (heart ultrasound), ECG, oximetry and blood pressure measurement — are completely painless. The child simply lies or sits. The Holter and ABPM are small devices the child wears for one day during ordinary activities.
